Jomsom (2743m): is also known as Dzong-Sampa or New Fort‚ located to the north of Pokhara, south of the village of Kagbeni and of Western Nepal. Jomsom is a well-equipped town of Lower Mustang region and the main gateway to Upper Mustang. The trail passing through Jomsom follows the Kali Gandaki River which forms the deepest ravine in the world. It lies in the trans-Himalayan region of Annapurna mountain range and on the other side is Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri.
