Boudhanath Stupa (UNESCO World Heritage Site): Situated 8 km to the east from city center from Kathmandu. It was renovated by the Lichchhavi rulers in 8th century. The 36-meter-high stupa of Boudhanath is one of the largest stupa in South Asia. Here you can see many monasteries surrounding it. On each side is a pair of the all-seeing-eyes of the Buddha symbolizing awareness. Boudhanath is a very important and holy stupa to Buddhists, particularly to the Tibetan Buddhists. Boudhnath is very engrossing and spiritual area where devotees walk more than three times in the morning or in the evening enchanting holy mantra “Om Mani Padme Hum”.
